Last Gambit is chess where you build your own army instead of getting the usual set of pieces. There are 27 pieces to collect, from the six classics to strange ones like the Unicorn, the Griffon, the Void Queen that leaves through one edge of the board and comes back through the other, and the Phoenix that rises again. You can fuse pieces, clone the one you need, evolve pawns mid fight and deploy your formation however you like.
The Story mode is a roguelite run over a branching map with battles, merchants and bosses, and you pick up perks that bend the rules, like rewinding a move or freezing a piece. When you feel ready, take your army online and test it against other players. It is a great pick for chess fans who want something fresh and a little bit crazy.
