"Project First Contact" is a first-person survival horror game about an alien invasion that has already pushed Earth into chaos. The aliens are also experimenting with life on Earth. Animals have been genetically modified into bizarre creatures, while humans are caught up in the same disturbing experiments. As one of the people who has avoided this fate, the task is to keep moving, survive the invasion, and fight back against the extraterrestrial forces. The journey ultimately leads toward Area 51, which serves as the headquarters of the invaders.

Exploration takes place across up to seven different areas on Earth. The route covers varied environments, including mountains, forests, fields, and other locations, with places such as Mount Whitney and Area 51 appearing along the way. Each area continues the horror theme and brings another set of threats to deal with.
